As a wedding makeup artist for over 8 years, I’ve witnessed so many incredible, emotional moments. On September 21, 2019 my sister and best friend married the love of her life on the island of Aruba. That day (the whole week tbh) will forever hold some of my favorite lifetime memories. We spent the week soaking up the sun, bathing in the crystal clear aqua waters, watching the island sunset with a beer in hand, and truly enjoying spending quality time with friends and family.
We kicked off the wedding week on Thursday night with a private party bus (The Kukoo Kunuku) that took all 40+ of us to Aruba’s famous lighthouse where we toasted a glass of champagne to the bride and groom and geared up for a night of bar crawling. Crawling home we certainly did. The rehearsal dinner the following day was at one of Aruba’s most famous dock beach bars, Bugaloe. We spent the night eating, drink lots of Chills, dancing, and topped it off by jumping into the ocean (muliple times) fancy dresses and all. The best part? Nick, our insanely talented brother took over on the guitar with the bar’s live band and absolutely killed it. It was such a special moment for our family and friends.
The wedding morning started off with Dushi bagels, lots of coffee, and most certainly a few Advil. Arianna and I did a few trials prior to that day, but her makeup look ended up turning out even more beautiful than we expected. I wanted to capture the Aruba sunset and really highlight her beautiful olive skin and deep brown eyes. Peep my IG for a full look breakdown. To say she looked breathless was an understatement. Once the glam process was complete, it was time to get our girl married. We headed down to the beach (shoeless, of course) and one by one walked in the sand towards the ocean. Watching her and Baba (our Dad) walk down the aisle was such a special thing to witness. She looked radiant, glowing, and the most obvious, happy. Once the wedding finished and everyone indulged in a steel drum band and cocktails, we took our seats. As we sat down, a bit of rain decided to make it’s way through which tbh, felt amazing on our sunburnt skin. We decided to head inside for dinner and speeches to let the rain pass. A few hours later we were back outside under the stars dancing the night away. During the last hour, the rain decided to make a comeback, but that didn’t stop us. We took to the sand and danced in the rain. Wet, drunk, sunburnt, and full of love. It was perfect.
